I am sure that most artists, of whatever kind, feel the presence of an inner "genie" that gets loose, whether in a paint brush or otherwise, and splashes itself about. Ever since childhood I have drawn, coloured, painted, designed, created...
Our environment was my inspiration and my canvas, my sketchbook was and is my diary, and our self-designed house, the studio, my books, all reflect this genie within.
Landscapes in oils, still life and portraits in pastel and abstracts in stained-glass form the bulk of my work.
As to formal training, as a child I went to the nuns at La Pedagogique Marguerite Bourgeois, then as a teen to evenings and Saturdays at Sir George Williams College and on to the one and only art course at McGill while a student there. My main inspiration was without doubt the mentorship of Betty Galbraith-Cornell, a well-known Montreal landscape and portrait artist who spent every summer at Metis Beach in the Gaspe. There she took me under her wing. Now she is in her 80's and I carry on. I am grateful.
