Susan grew up in Hudson, moving away for 20 years before returning home in 1997 just before she turned 50. Her first introduction to art came while she was in her 40's, living in Toronto. An astrologer read her chart and told her she could draw. Somewhat skeptical, she signed up for a course at the Art Gallery of Ontario aptly named "Drawing for the Absolute and Terrified Beginner"! Life got busy, and another ten years would go by before she was able to actively explore her newly-discovered talent.
Although Susan hasn’t had any formal art training, she has taken lessons from a variety of teachers over the past several years. Susan loves children and is especially fond of trying to capture their curiosity, innocence and pure joy in her paintings. An attraction to barns and landscapes can be traced to Susan’s wonderful childhood memories of days spent at Simon’s Farm in Hudson, her lifelong love of the outdoors, and an innate appreciation of textures and colours. As evidenced in her home, Susan is drawn to many different art forms, and is constantly looking for ways to explore and improve upon her creative spirit.
