Val Cole has incorporated her love of animals and nature into her paintings. She believes that every artist sees the world differently and there is room for all expressions of art. She started her art education many years ago as a decorative artist and was introduced to the Russian painters from Palekh. It is detailed and whimsical and influences the details in her landscapes and animals.
David Jansen, an educator par excellence, has been an important mentor in Val’s style of painting. Most of her acrylic paintings have been brought to life through the educational background that David provided. Steven Rosati, a portrait painter, introduced Val to oil and portrait painting along with Brigit Marlin, the founder of Art of the Imagination in England.
Val uses both painting knives and brushes in her paintings. Val has a home studio and teaches weekly, both small and private classes. She has also taught painting seminars at the Montreal Area Decorative Painters Guild and Coast to Coast painting convention in Toronto. Valerie considers herself primarily a portrait, nature, and animal painter.
